Der Saxophonist Ariel Brínguez ging aus der legendären Band Irakere des Pianisten Chucho Valdés hervor. Mit Nostalgia Cubana hat er ein sehr persönliches Projekt geschaffen, eine Hommage an seine alte Heimat, die keinesfalls romantisch verklärt, sondern der Kraft der afro-kubanischen Rhythmen und Stilistiken nachspürt.
